Danny's birthday party

I am a little behind on posting. Here are some pictures of Danny's birthday party. My parents surprised us and came up for a few days. Very good timing, we needed the help.

Danny and Pop looking at the moon with his new telescope.

Danny blowing out candles on his Pirate ship cake. I did not make the cake myself- obviously.

Mia in the duck pond. My ducks didn't float the way that I thought they would and they were much smaller than I expected. But the younger kids liked them.

A good friend sent Mia a huge box of Princess dress up clothes and a hat box full of wigs for her birthday. This is Mia dressed as Cinderella- I think. I have a good picture of Danny dressed as Snow White wig and all, but Chris won't let me post it.

Cool sight

Danny plays a lot of sports through the YMCA. It just so happens that the Y is right next to a small runway. There are always a ton of planes practicing takeoffs and landings. Tonight during Danny's T-ball game we saw this taking off.

This plane is way bigger than the little 2 seaters that are usually here. Chris tells me that this is a B17 bomber. It was loud coming off the runway and drew the attention of all the little boys on the team. Danny thought it was so cool. There was also a P51 Mustang that took off once while we were there, but I didn't have the camera ready. Chris is a big military history buff, so this was pretty exciting.

Wegerzyn Gardens

My friend Kathy drove up to visit us from Richmond. We took the kids to a garden just like Lewis Ginter. The kids loved it! They had a few different water areas, caves, fish ponds and sand boxes.

Playing nicely together.

T-ball Dad

Danny had his first T-ball game tonight. Chris is helping out by being a first base coach. I didn't realize how uninterested in soccer Danny was until T-ball started. He has so much fun.

This is all of the yellow team (Danny is the one with his head on the ground) chasing a ball while the blue team makes it to first base.
This is Danny's first "at bat". Chris is the guy in the black shirt standing at 1st base. An inning consists of every member of the batting team having a turn to bat. Every time the ball is hit, the kids advance to the next base. The only way to get out is if you throw your bat when you hit the ball. The fielding team has a child on all positions and the extra kids stand in the outfield. The goal is to get the fielders to field the ball and throw it to first base. And in case you were wondering- Chris gets very into it! Here he is trying to get the kids to advance a base. Sometimes the batter will go directly to second base, or maybe chase the ball they just hit. Mia sits on the sideline cheering for Daddy and Danny. We're having fun with it.

Tough Guy

Chris has been promising Danny Super Soakers since we came home from the shore. Our friends brought some down, and they had a great time spraying each other. So today was the day, I think Chris enjoyed it just as much as Danny.

Don't feel too bad for Danny, he has pretty good aim. They were both soaked.

Tea Party

Danny gave Mia a Disney Princess Tea Party set for her birthday. She loves it, but Danny is really into it. While Mia was napping today he asked if we could set it up. That way when Mia woke up, we'd be ready to have a tea party. Danny is in charge, he pours the tea, milk and sugar and makes sure that everyone is in the proper seat. It is such a change from crashing monster trucks into the wall.

Outer Banks

We just got back from the Outer Banks. Here are some pictures of our trip.
Mia loved the beach! We couldn't keep either of them out of the waves.

We stayed in a house with some friends and had another group a few miles away. These are all of the kids building a engineer designed sand castle. This kept the kids and Adam pretty busy for a while.
The pool was great. Mia refused to take the hat and tinkerbelle glasses off.
Look at the cute little pony tails! I can finally do her hair. Still won't take the glasses off.

We had a great trip. Can't wait to do it again next summer! We did miss a major storm while we were gone. When we returned to Ohio, a good number of trees had fallen in our development. There are a ton of houses with roof damage and a handful of cars that were destroyed. This is the craziest weather!
