Little Monkey

Monday was our 7th wedding anniversary. Chris took the day off from work and started painting Mia's room- the best gift ever! I put Mia in a pak n play in a spare room until her room is finished. After putting her to bed tonight, I noticed that her monitor was not aimed at the pak n play but at the wall. Then the focus moved to the floor. A little nervous with Chris out of town again, I went to investigate.
Of course, Mia had climbed out of the pak n play.
And this is how it is done. She was so pleased with herself, and it took all of 30 seconds to do.

More random pictures

Danny's swim class had boat safety day. Danny is the little guy in the back of the boat with his head barely showing. They practiced putting on a life jacket and getting in and out of a boat. They also had to float on their backs with a life vest on and kick themselves to the side of the pool. That was hard to watch, Danny did not like being on his back. But it is a good lesson to learn and he was able to do it just fine.

I bought Danny a bubble gun. He thinks it is the greatest thing in the world. He chased Mia all over the yard with it.

It is another warm sunny day today. Mia decided that she wanted to wear her winter hat and refused to take it off.

Random Pictures

Chris is in London, so I will be posting random pictures for the next few days. We have had great weather this week, sunny and high 70's. We have spent most of it outside in the yard or at a park.
We aren't sure what is growing in our flower beds yet. These little purple flowers are the only color so far, but everything is starting to get buds.

Chris drew a chalk baseball diamond on the driveway, complete with batters box, dugouts and the on-deck circle. Danny could spend hours hitting the ball and running the bases. He has turned into a baseball whiz. He knows more about the game than I do. He even entertained a man selling me shoes with an in-depth conversation about the Red Sox (the salesman had just come back from Boston). He is not shy at all!

Mia and our neighbor playing in the yard. They have so much fun together.

Mia waving Hi to Daddy. I wish I had more pictures of Danny, but he runs whenever I get the camera out. Mia, on the other hand, loves to have her picture taken.

Crazy Ohio

Danny woke us up around 4:45 this morning. He yelled down "Mommy, I'm scared". Chris quickly went up to see what was going on. Danny told him his bed was shaking. We didn't think much of it, but let him come sleep with us anyway. This morning I found out that there was an earthquake in Illinois at 4:37 AM, whose effects were felt all the way in Cincinnati and Dayton! So far in Ohio, we have had amazing snow storms, flooding and now earthquakes. Never a dull moment in the Nolan household.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Phillies

This weekend was 70 degrees and sunny- the first nice weekend in a long time. We spent all weekend outside for a change. The Cincinnati Reds played the Phillies in Cincinnati. Most of you know that we are Red Sox fans, but when in Rome. Danny has some Phillies gear from his cousin Eddie, so he wore that. He fit in well with the rest of the people at the game.

The kids did surprisingly well. Danny has started to enjoy watching baseball, so it kept his interest. Mia likes food, so as long as she had something to eat, she was fine. She spent most of the game feeding Chris. We took a break mid way through the game for lunch. They had a great play area for the kids to burn off some energy.

The Reds won 8-2. It was a great way to spend a day. I think we will be doing this a lot over the next few months.

Indoor Soccer

Danny finished up his indoor soccer season this weekend. He played outdoor soccer in the fall, but this season he was much more involved. He played goalie a few times and was pretty good at it. He must get his soccer skills from Uncle Tommy. He is going to start outdoor soccer in a few weeks, so it will be nice to get outside.

Danny's favorite part was throwing the ball out of the goal and snack time after the game. Here are some pictures of Danny playing Goalie. Above, he is in yellow taking the ball down the field.

Happy Easter

We set up this blog just to be able to share pictures with our family and friends, who we don't get to see as much as we'd like. I have a few friends who have set these sites up, and I love to be able to check them out from time to time and see how the kids are growing, or where my traveling RN friend is this month. My hope is to post pictures 3 or 4 times a month, depending on what we have going on. We'll see how it goes!

This is our first Easter in Ohio. We had a nice quiet weekend. We took the kids to see the Easter Bunny on Saturday. They had an egg hunt and a nice lunch. On Sunday, the kids found eggs hidden in the basement. The Easter Bunny brought the kids puzzles, books, coloring books and, of course, candy. Mia liked the candy part the best! They both enjoyed dying the eggs- Mia tried to eat hers.
